About Me

AKBAR HUSAIN, Ph.D. is currently professor of psychology at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, INDIA. During his academic career for more than three decades he has undertaken major research projects and written extensively in the areas of Stress and Health, Psychospirituality, Psychological Well-being. He was editor of The Journal of the Indian Academy of Applied Psychology, the official organ of IAAP from 2002-2005. He has been Editor of Journal of Educational Research, Jilid 31, University of Malaya in 2009. He is also consulting editor for Amity Journal of Applied Psychology, Indian Journal of Health and Well-being Journal of Impairment and Disabilities, and Kashmir Journal of Social Sciences. He has participated in ITA meeting at Russia (2010). He has standardized a number of psychological tests and assessment tools. He has authored, co-authored and edited 24 books, and 161 academic publications in the form of research papers, journal articles, and book chapters at the national and international level. He has also been the recipient of Prof. N. S. Chauhan Memorial Lecture Award PRAACHI-Psycho-cultural Research Association, 2001. Saroj Aurora Veteran PRAACHI Behavioral Scientists Award, 2002. He is a Life Member and Annual Member of various National and International Associations. Dr. Husain was offered Founding Member of the International Board of the International Transpersonal Association, USA in 2009 and he was also offered Membership of the Nyenrode Spirituality in Business Community, Netherlands in 2008. He has visited several countries for attending conferences and teaching assignments. In recent years he has been involved in conducting the researches on various topics such as spiritual values/virtues, spiritual health, spiritual personality, etc. related to the area of Spirituality. His current areas of research are Spiritual Psychology, Health Psychology and Positive Psychology.
